Peas in a Pod is a house for girls from 2 to 18 years old. It is the only one in Pretoria, South Africa that specializes in sexually abused girls. Together, the community focuses on “restorative work with girls who have been abused and have missed out on an education of the the abuse they suffered.” Currently, there are 18 girls living in the house. With the three full time mothers, a social worker, teacher, and more, the girls are well cared for. Living in a home warmly decorated with beautiful messages, they are provided with home schooling, therapy sessions if needed, and allowed to stay until for as long as they wish. Most leave when they are able to support themselves financially. In essence, Peas in a Pod is a sanctuary for these girls. They are lovingly tended for and prepared for a righteous future.

During its past 3 years, Peas in a Pod has cared for 31 girls. This means that 31 sexually abused girls have entered Peas in a Pod to leave as 31 women with the full capabilities of leading themselves. Dr. Annali Swanepoel, the founder of this non-profit organization uses her knowledge to help the girls. Day in and day out, the girls are given the attention and love they missed out on. Unlike other organizations though, Peas in a Pod also battles financial difficulties. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated and received in full by the organization.
